A Month-Long Global Event for Art & Learning

RICHARD SCHMID‑ A Palette & Chisel Tribute
Join us for a month-long celebration honoring the life, legacy, and extraordinary artistry of Richard Schmid — one of the most influential realist painters of our time.

Location
This special educational event will take place both virtually, and live at the historic Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Art in Chicago, where Richard served as President and painted over 100 portraits.

The Exhibition
A landmark exhibition will showcase 24 masterworks Richard created at the Palette & Chisel, along with select landscapes and still life paintings—a special opportunity to experience the artworks up close.

A Rare Educational Month
Whether you visit alone, with friends, or as part of a class, there’s something to learn at every turn. Each painting is accompanied by a short essay written to deepen your understanding of the artist’s work, offering insight into every piece.

Enriching In-Person & Virtual Events
In addition to the Exhibition, we invite you to a series of educational and fine art programs.

Friday, October 2nd, 2026

• Luncheon with awards and an insightful lecture by Ann Witheridge, Fine Art historian, “The Emergence of Bravura Brushwork and the Alla Prima Painting Technique,” at the historic Newberry Library in Chicago.

Saturday October 3rd & 4th

• Opening Weekend Demonstrations (live and virtual) by acclaimed artists:
