Join us in October 2026 as we honor the life, legacy, and extraordinary artistry of Richard Schmid—one of the most influential realist painters of our time—while learning from the techniques, stories, and teachings that shaped his remarkable journey.
Location
Events will be hosted both virtually and in person (live) at the historic Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Arts, 1012 N Dearborn St 3rd Floor Studio, Chicago, IL — the very place where Richard served as President and created more than one hundred portraits alongside fellow P&C members.
The Exhibition
A landmark exhibition will showcase 24 masterworks Richard created at the Palette & Chisel, along with select landscapes and still life paintings—a special opportunity to experience and learn from the artworks up close.
A Rare Educational Month
Visitors—whether you visit alone, with friends, or as part of a class, there’s something to learn at every turn. Each painting is accompanied by a concise essay written to deepen your understanding of the artist’s work, offering insight into every piece.
Enriching In-Person & Virtual Events
In addition to the Exhibition, we invite you to a full series of educational and fine art programs.
