“When we are bursting with some wordless experience, art is our voice, the song of our heart." – RS
Located in the quaint, idylic town of Walpole, New Hampshire, the Richard Schmid Fine Art Foundation includes the historic home and studios of world-renowned artists Richard Schmid and his wife, artist Nancy Guzik. Regarded by many as the world’s most influential artist, Schmid, who was eighty 87 when he passed was the recipient of almost every major award offered in the United States.
Built in 1983, the couple’s home offers more than 13,000 square feet of indoor living space set on five acres—an ideal environment for artists. In May, 2026, Richard’s home and studio was accepted as an Affiliate member of the Historic Artists’ Home & Studios, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. This designation recognizes the site’s cultural and artistic significance and helps preserve the legacy of two celebrated American artists for future generations.
